Safety device and rules at sea, in downwind competition

End of all procedures after competitor’s return

The organization reserves the right to make the device lighter depending on the navigation conditions, specially for shrtrace, V6 challenge, Beach race.

Level 1 : Individual, active and passive safety of the competitor.

Supplement and reminder of the following elements :

1. Be up to date with your federal licencse to pratice CK in competition

2. Have sufficient physical condition.

3.Know how to choose your equipment and get back into your boat alone

4.Wearing a vest is mandatory

5.Boat in good condition equipped with a worn leash.

6. A working telephone that can be used on water

7. Use of geolocation beacons (dotvision device)

8. Respect of navigation zones of the marine reserve

9. maintain a safe distance from the coral reef and the coast

10. Respect the rules of naviagtion and priority at sea, during warm-up and during the race

11. do not obstruct the entrance and exit of the harbor

12. Respect  the recommended warm-up zones

The R1 (responsible 1) and JA (referee) reserve the right to disqualify an athlete for non-compliance with the conditions with the conditions of application of the safety elements above.

Required equipment for motorboats and ORS people

Equiped boats : life jackets worn by crew, individual telephone for each crew member, yellow flag for identification of safety vessel, 2 emergency paddles

> water, drinkable fruit compote , warm clothing, first aid kit, beacon (Dotvision )

Situations : A competitor showing no movement on the location ma: the land ORS will advise the ORS ‘Voltigeuse’ via the whatsAPP group or by telephone and they will decide together of the necessity for the ORS to move to the competitor’s known last position or they will decide to send a level 2-3-4 element to the last known position of the competitor.

Ending the race : the R1, the level 2-3-4 team leaders can decide to stop the race for various reasons (deterioratingweather,etc.). Competitors are then notified via the VHF competitor channel. They are asked to reach one of the escape locations identified during the safety briefing, they must gather together as much as possible.

Motor Boat 1 : ORS Voltigeuse 1 (blue flag ): It moves in the middle of the fleet and ensures that no competitor deviates from the course track and is in a dangerous situation (coral reef etc…)

Its priority is to provide assistance . It maintains constant contact with ground ORS. It supervises the entire ORS system on the wtaer, directing it to a competitor who needs help.

Motor Boat 2 : ORS tracer (orange flag): It leads the race, gives the start and shows the ideal trajctory of the race in the middle or at the front of the fleet. It provides a reference point for competitors along the track. It has an orange visible flame on board. It is in constant contact with the ORS voltigeuse and can be asked to move to a competitor in difficulty. In this case, it lowers its orange flag.

This boat is equipped with flag, buoys and kite to be more visible on the water.

Motor boat 3 : Red lantern Sentinel (red flag): operates at the end of the fleet; helping competitors in difficulty is its priority. It maintain a constant contact with the ORS voltigeuse.
